Two quick site-tweaking announcements:
- As you can see, I’ve done some downsizing — the tab bar is gone, the links moved to the sidebar, there’s a new Archive page, etc., etc. All the info is still there though (except for the category list, which will be back soon).
- A few people have complained about the sluggish QuickTime embeds in the music posts, so I’ve replaced them with snazzy Flash players. Hopefully the performance is a bit better now — drop me a line if you’re still having trouble.

You may have been. After getting my second or third complaint, I polled the IRC channel I was in and it unanimously voted for Flash over QT. If there’s a backlash from the regular commenters, though, I’m amenable to changing it back.
One nice thing about the Flash player, which I hadn’t thought about until now, is that I don’t need to hide the music posts behind a “read more” link. (The main problem with the QT embeds was they’d all buffer at once and slow the page down.) I’ll go edit the posts now.

Also, I ‘d like to vote for a return of the witty semi-random subtitling beneath the “Cruise Elroy” headline. They were fun!

I liked that too, but the subtitle was cramping my newly Spartan style. :) For the moment the quote is down at the bottom of the page.

Sorry for the double post, but I’m having trouble with the flash embeds. They seem to hang on ‘buffering’ but the green bar clearly shows they’re fully loaded. All of the ones I tried did this. Another downside with the flash embeds is that I now can’t as easily grab them for my own personal use. :( I borrowed the Road Rash theme for a class illustration the other day.
I must say, I am very amenable to the full posts on the front page, though – that’s handy.
(Aha! I just noticed the semi-random quotes are at the bottom now. Excellent. I will peruse them there then =D)

Hmm. Looks like my hosting company was having some hiccups over the past couple of days, so that could have been the problem. Let me know if the Flash is still giving you trouble. Of course, if anyone else is having trouble, I’d love to know that too.
Also, if you ever need a clip of something, I’d be happy to send it along!
